“With the introduction of HADA, we can now monitor and manage facility inspections across all 14 regional airports at a glance.”
- Yoonjin Lee, Service Development Manager at KAC -
Hello, I’m Yoonjin Lee, Service Development Manager at Korea Airports Corporation (KAC). When I first joined, I handled finance-related tasks at Jeju Airport, but I’m now working at the headquarters in the Service Development Department.
KAC manages and operates 14 regional airports across the country. In the Service Development Department, where I work, we focus on ensuring passenger convenience by overseeing various facilities, including amenities and services for those with reduced mobility.
I oversee the management of facilities and services for individuals with reduced mobility across all regional airports. Since my work directly impacts airport users, I focus on various efforts to improve overall satisfaction.
In particular, I ensure that facilities are regularly inspected and address areas requiring improvement by coordinating with the responsible personnel. However, given the scale of managing facilities across all airports, it’s impossible for me to visit each site personally. Instead, I used to rely on reports from airport staff to monitor the status and progress of inspections.
The biggest challenge was ensuring the accuracy of facility checklist inspections. Across 14 regional airports nationwide, there are over 500 facilities to manage, and physically visiting each location to verify checklists was simply unrealistic. Instead, I relied on reports submitted by the respective airport staff. However, this approach focused more on an overall status of facility management rather than providing detailed insights into individual facility inspections, making it difficult to ensure precise and thorough management.
To address these inefficiencies, we explored various solutions and discovered HADA—a digital facility management platform. After internal discussions, we decided to implement HADA to streamline and digitalize our inspection processes.
The biggest change has been the ability to efficiently monitor and manage facility inspections across all airports. With HADA, cleaning and maintenance staff at each airport can input inspection results, which are instantly saved to the PC dashboard. I can now easily review the inspection data through HADA’s real-time status and analytics screen.
Additionally, the QR code scanning feature has made the inspection process much more convenient for on-site staff, simplifying their workflow significantly.
⛔️ Difficulty in Confirming Actual Inspections
Before implementing HADA, inspections were conducted manually, and verifying whether they were truly completed was a major challenge.
Inspection details were recorded on paper checklists as text only, making it hard to determine at a glance if inspections had been properly carried out. For airports located far from headquarters, I had to rely solely on supervisor reports from the local teams. However, this approach made it nearly impossible to confirm whether inspections were conducted thoroughly.
Ultimately, the only solution was for me to physically visit each airport and verify facilities one by one. But given the scale, this was neither practical nor efficient, underscoring the urgent need for a better management solution.
✅ Verifying Inspections with Photo Attachments
With the introduction of HADA, confirming whether inspections have been completed has become much easier.
At Korea Airports Corporation, inspectors are now required to submit photos after completing their inspections. HADA simplifies this process by allowing only photos taken on-site to be uploaded. This ensures a clear visual record of the inspection at the time it took place.
Additionally, HADA’s PC dashboard allows all submitted inspection photos to be viewed at a glance. This has significantly streamlined the verification process, saving both time and effort compared to previous methods.
⛔️ Paper-based checklists that are hard to review at a glance
Korea Airports Corporation currently manages over 500 facilities across 14 regional airports nationwide. These facilities are inspected four times a day using checklists, but monitoring the status of these inspections was challenging with paper-based processes.
Reviewing countless checklists daily, compiling the results into Excel files, and analyzing the overall status consumed significant time and effort. Additionally, it was difficult to get a detailed understanding of each facility's condition through this manual process.
To address these inefficiencies caused by paper checklists and Excel-based reporting, a more effective solution was needed.
✅ Real-Time Inspection Status and Analytics on the Dashboard
With HADA’s dashboard, I can now view the inspection status and analytics for all 14 airports at a glance. The dashboard provides detailed data, such as daily inspection progress rates and periodic inspection statistics, making it much easier to monitor the overall status across all airports.
Additionally, if organized reports are needed, HADA offers an Excel download feature, allowing quick access to the required information at any time. By implementing HADA, we have significantly improved the efficiency of facility management operations.
⛔️ Complicated Issue Reporting Process
During airport facility inspections, various issues arise—from low supplies to equipment damage—that require immediate attention.
Previously, inspectors would report issues verbally or over the phone to managers. However, this method had significant drawbacks. First, inspectors had no way to track whether their reported issues were resolved. Second, managers struggled to trace how these issues were handled later, as there were no clear records or history logs. This lack of proper documentation made efficient issue resolution and management challenging.
✅ Easily Report and Track Issues with the ‘Issues & Resolutions’ Feature
We now use HADA’s ‘Issues & Resolutions’ feature to efficiently manage various facility issues at our airports.
When an issue is identified during an inspection, it is logged into HADA, instantly notifying the manager. This allows managers to quickly assess and address the problem. Additionally, all reports and resolutions are automatically recorded, making it easy to review the details anytime through the dashboard.
This system benefits both inspectors and managers. Inspectors can track how their reported issues are resolved, and managers can easily monitor and follow up on the entire process. As a result, overall efficiency and reliability in facility management have greatly improved.
