Hello, I am Kangbeom Han, Production Manager at Syngenta Korea Inc., overseeing production management.
Syngenta Korea Inc. is a Korean subsidiary wholly owned by Syngenta AG, headquartered in Basel, Switzerland. As of 2021, approximately 210 employees are working across the country to contribute to the advancement of Korean agriculture.
As a Production Manager, I am responsible for managing the overall production process to produce quality products based on safety in a chemical manufacturing plant. I am managing production in various ways to manage and continuously improve product production activities in compliance with domestic laws and regulations and company regulations.
In particular, we have been implementing Digital check list and OEE real time management in the production line as part of the Smart Manufacturing project since last year.
As part of our 5S project (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain), we introduced a 5S checklist within the factory. However, we encountered challenges in managing the volume and organization of essential photo documentation submitted by operators, which was stored in Excel, leading to issues with data capacity and organization.
Additionally, safety and quality checklists were documented and submitted in paper form. This manual process posed significant challenges in data digitization and analysis.
Through this experience, we recognized an internal need for digital transformation in checklist management to streamline our processes. To address these inefficiencies, we decided to implement the HADA service to improve our workflow.
The biggest change has been the shift away from paper-based checklists for operations and management tasks.
When managing 5S activities and various facility inspections on paper, we faced significant challenges in gathering checklists and maintaining documentation for verification purposes. With HADA, these processes have been digitized, making data management much easier and more efficient.
⛔️ Inconvenience of paper-based checklist completion
At Syngenta Korea, prior to implementing HADA, we completed and submitted checklists using paper forms. With manual checklist entries, it was challenging to verify whether inspections had actually been conducted, and managing these documents was inconvenient.
✅ Simplified checklist creation and submission with QR codes
After implementing HADA, we generated and attached QR codes for each line. As a result, operators can now simply scan the QR code with their smartphones to easily complete and submit checklists, making the process much more convenient.
⛔️ The difficulty of managing work documentation photos
The most challenging part of managing the 5S checklist was handling work documentation photos. Since we collect photos by production line, the large volume of image files created issues with storage capacity and organization.
